Monday, April 13
We spent the day at school today, with students going to class with their hosts. Our kids did a lot this weekend, from ice skating, to soccer matches, movies, shopping, and more sightseeing. The weather has been gorgeous since the weekend with sunny skies and highs around 70 degrees. Tomorrow we go to the town of Segovia and the weather is supposed to hold.
Unfortunately we couldn't take pictures of students in class today, so we got them when we could. The boys played a rousing soccer match--americanos vs espanoles. Check out those pics below.

Weekend
Kids will be spending the weekend with their families. I'll post any pictures they send me. In this case, no news is good news! We spend all day Monday at school--I'll update from there. Have a good weekend!

Friday at El Escorial
Today we went to the Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a royal palace and monastery built in the 16th century by Felipe II. It is still used as a monastery today but the royal family no longer lives there. The building itself is seen as a good example of Renaissance architecure, which moved away from the baroque style that was popular in the previous century. We first walked to an overlook in the forest still owned by the royal family but it was so cloudy we couldn't see much.
